Job Title:   Director Finance and Administration                                                                         

Location:   Denver, CO




SEIU Local105 is now hiring a Director of Finance and Administration to support our work building power for workers in the Denver Metro Area.  SEIU Local 105 is on the cutting edge of progressive activism, building the power of low-wage workers and engaging in larger social issues such as immigration and health care. SEIU Local 105 represents over 7,300 property services, healthcare, and mental health workers.  The Union is home to the Justice for Janitors and Stand for Security, campaigns that have successfully improved the lives of thousands of low wage and immigrant workers throughout the country.


Local 105 is a medium-sized Local that is actively expanding our work through multiple industry groups and new organizing campaigns.  We are looking for a dynamic problem solver to lead our financial and administrative operation who is excited to be part of a movement for real social change; who has experience managing and growing a nonprofit financial organization; who can plan strategically for new opportunities as well as solve day to day problems; and who wants to be part of a team that fights and wins for workers, their families and their communities. 





  • Oversee bookkeeping and finance functions
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual (unaudited) financial reports, and others as needed
  • Manage Beck-Hudson auditing for the Local
  • Interface with auditors, bank, insurance co, payroll processing, and other outside service providers on finance and HR matters

Strategic Planning and Budgeting

  • Participate as member of Senior Staff Team
  • Collaborate in budgeting and planning on departmental, campaign, and organizational levels
  • Prepare and maintain annual budget, including regular reporting and updates
  • Work with the Secretary-Treasurer and other officers to liaise with the Executive Board as needed

Human Resources

  • Manage payroll processing for staff of 40+ and lost time wages for members
  • Manage pension, benefits, and PTO accounting
  • Support development of policies and procedures
  • HR system and process implementation and monitoring, including new technology and programs


  • Oversee membership database management
  • Ensure efficacy of member data
  • Develop procedure for and execute spot audits on union employers

Staff Management

  • Manage administrative and finance staff of 6 people
  • Identify and provide appropriate staff development opportunities in various functional areas
  • Maintain schedule of regular employee reviews


  • Support Local 105 in special projects such as meetings, conferences, actions, and other activities identified by the President, Chief of Staff and Officers
  • Reports to the Chief of Staff and President of the Local or their designee
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor



  • Excellent dynamic, creative problem-solving skills
  • Extensive experience in nonprofit and/or union management, with a focus on teamwork, problem solving, and managing for growth
  • Excellent understanding of nonprofit and/or union financial accounting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Extensive experience with QuickBooks Accounting for Nonprofits
  • Experience with building and managing nonprofit budgets
  • Experience with nonprofit or union payroll and human resource management
  • Proven track record managing multiple staff
  • Experience with informational databases as a manager or at least a heavy user
  • Comfort with technology, including Microsoft Office, database software, and Google platform
  • Spanish language a plus
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit or union financial management
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, or equivalent experience 
  • Integrity
