Job Title: Accounts Receivable Accountant Grade: PS-1 Annual Pay : $60,992.13/YR

Purpose:
This position is responsible for depositing receipts as part of a team that maintains the incoming funds of SEIU-controlled entities. The accounts receivable team is tasked with implementing the highest level of data integrity, operation efficiencies and process management. This role is also responsible for supporting the coding of transactions for Department of Labor LM-2 reporting. This role will be active in implementing policies that support the Union’s goals by providing ha highly effective financial operation.
This position will be required to operate with a high level of discretion, judgment and integrity as a steward of member financial resources.

- Directly support the Accounts Receivable Manager in ensuring the timely and accurate maintenance of the accounts receivable ledgers of SEIU-controlled entities.
- Analyzes and reconciles accounts receivable ledgers on a regular basis as established by the Director of Treasury and the Accounts Receivable Manager.
- Prepares deposits and adjusting entries.
- Work with external support to reconcile accounts at month end and year end.
- Supports the monthly close of accounts receivable within two business days following the end of each month, and assists in ensuring that all necessary processes are completed to accurately close.
- Supports the annual close of accounts receivable within 15 business days following the end of the year, and assists in ensuring that all necessary processes are completed to accurately close.
- Prepares and executes all transactions in a way that ensures that generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), SEIU’s policies, IRS regulations and Department of Labor requirements are met.
Direction and Decision Making:
This position reports to the Accounts Receivable Manager.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Equivalency:
Bachelor’s degree in an accounting-related field and six (6) years’ experience in accounting, preferably accounts receivable.

- Knowledge of US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Knowledge of US and District of Columbia laws and regulations regarding financial controls
- Ability to effectively use an enterprise resource planning (ERP) program to analyze, reconcile and process accounting transactions
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with SEIU managers and administrative staff as well as external related parties, in both written and oral presentations
- Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and effectively organize work in a changing environment
- Ability to maintain a flexible attitude and approach toward assignments and actively engage other in building teams
- Knowledge of complex financial metrics, accounting principles and processes
- Ability to structure and analyze complex financial reports
- Ability to think critically and analytically in linking financial data to qualitative information
- Ability to calculate standard financial rations (current, liquidity, turnover, etc.)
- Ability to communicate sensitive information to principals
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software – Excel and Word

Work is generally performed in an office setting. Long and extended hours and travel may be required

Purpose
This position is responsible for monitoring, posting and balancing all incoming contributions and reports and maintains and updates the contribution and census database for the Affiliates' Officers and Employees Pension Fund and the SEIU Pension Plan for Employees. This position handles sensitive and confidential information.

- Receives, processes and reconciles contribution remittances.
- Monitors, balances, posts and closes pending contribution batches.
- Compiles and inputs information for current, new and terminated employers.
- Updates the Benefit Fund Office Collection Department database for participant contribution and census data through manual data entry and electronic file transfer.
- Updates the Benefit Fund Office Collection Department database for participant contribution and census data through manual data entry and electronic file transfer in connection with employer payroll reviews.
- Assist in clerical function of SEIU Benefit Fund Office Collections Department
- Tracks and monitors employer delinquencies, credits and payment plans. Refers delinquent employer accounts to management for collection.
- Prepares Canadian T-4 reports and distributes to employers. Records discrepancies reported by employer. Prepares related credit/shortage letter as necessary.
- Provides information requested by fund consultants, as directed by management.
- Acts as liaison between Fund Office Collections and Benefits Processing Departments to ensure participants contributions are accurate.
- Collaborate with the Fund Office Payroll Review Department to resolve outstanding audit issues.
- Maintains participant and beneficiary census data.
- Prepares and coordinates reports for the Trustees Meetings.
- Assists with Local Unions Past Service Purchases working closely with Fund consultants and Local Union leaders and staff to ensure proper communication to participants and accurate execution of service purchases, as directed by management.
- Performs other duties as required to support the department and its mission.
Direction and Decision Making
This position reports to the Contributions Compliance Manager.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED, and 2 (two) years of experience in processing and monitoring financial data.
Equivalency
High school diploma or GED and 1 (one) year of college coursework including advanced math, business administration or other related coursework.

- Ability to perform data entry functions.

Job Title: Organizing Coordinator III Annual Pay: $93,203/YR
Location: Denver, CO
Purpose:
To represent and assist the International Union in achieving the Division/Region Organizing Program, to take responsibility for developing and implementing strategic organizing campaigns within a division or region, oversee all aspects of the strategic campaigns including developing the campaign strategy, managing employer relationships, supervising and training staff, staff development, budget, campaign communications, and political action.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for major division/regional organizing programs and performs a wide range of duties and responsibilities which may encompass many of those included in the Organizing Coordinator II job description. In addition, the Organizing Coordinator III will routinely:
- Works with Division leadership to develop and implement a strategic organizing program within a sector nationally involving multiple campaigns, coordination with local unions, and all other aspects of the campaign.
- Supervises and supports field staff in the sector campaign to plan and achieve goals. Assures integration of the work with local unions, community organizations, and other SEIU departments including field staff, communications, government affairs, capital stewardship, etc.
- Develops and maintains relationships with employers including negotiating agreements, implementing agreements, and resolving conflicts.
- Oversees staff development program for the division/region, evaluates the needs of the division, implements the program including training managers, tracking progress, and coordinating with the national staff development program.
- Reports on progress of the campaign regularly.
- Performs other duties as required to support the division program.
Contacts:
Includes SEIU Divisions and departments, local leaders and staff, SEIU members as well as political leaders, community organizations which partner with SEIU, targeted employers.
Direction and Decision Making:
The Organizing Coordinator III must be able to work independently and effectively represent the division. This position reports to the Division Organizing Director.
Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field or equivalent formal training including five (5) years of supervisory experience or a combination of education and experience that would provide for the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Strong knowledge and experience in labor organizing and related labor-advocacy work
- Knowledge of bargaining, organizing and organizational management
- Advanced knowledge of the labor, industry/sector and key public policy issues
- Ability to execute campaign goals and objectives, to work effectively with local leaders, and carry out required objectives
- Extensive experience directing large, complex external union organizing campaigns, developing strategy, managing staff, and coordinating resources
- Demonstrated experience working independently in complex political situations
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Ability to handle multiple “priority” projects and meet established timelines
- Ability to use personal computer and a Microsoft Office programs.
Working Conditions:
The Organizing Coordinator III must be available for regular and/or long-term travel over large geographic areas. The position often requires temporary assignments away from home as well as long and irregular hours.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
SEIU Local 509 has developed a dynamic and robust organizing program, successfully organizing thousands of private sector human service workers, faculty and graduate students, and family childcare providers in the past few years.
This position is responsible for leading and directing the next phase of the Local’s organizing program. This position requires someone with significant NLRB organizing, strategic campaign development, and supervisory experience.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Works as part of the union’s senior leadership team to develop and implement long term strategic growth plan
- Supervise organizing staff around NLRB organizing campaigns
- Leads planning, strategy, and implementation of all organizing drives

The SEIU Education and Support (ESF) seeks to fill a newly created Early Educator Training Program Managerposition to coordinate the SEIU 1199NE-State of RI Child Care Training and Support Fund. This position will be responsible for implementing an array of education and training programs for family child care providers including a new peer to peer mentoring initiative and technology support. The Program Manager will report to the Executive Director or designee and be held accountable to measurable and mutually-agreed upon training fund standards and goals of the joint Child Care Training Fund Committee of the State and SEIU 1199NE. This full-time position will require flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.
The ideal candidate for the position will have experience in executing early childhood education and training programs in a small to mid-sized grant funded non-profit organization, be a self-starter of a mission driven organization and possess a quick thinking and flexible style.

About the National Early Childhood Training Center
The National Early Childhood Education Training (NETC), is a program within SEIU ESF, a 501.c3 SEIU affiliated independent organization. NETC aims to address the profound professional training and development, leadership and resource needs of the early childhood workforce, the vast majority of whom are low-income women of color through an educator driven approach.
Responsibilities:
- Implements all aspects of a peer to peer mentoring program including recruitment, scheduling, and handling logistics; maintaining working relationships with partners; tracking and compiling data including attendance reports and program evaluations; using the organization’s database.
- Coordinates state-approved training opportunities aligned to the state’s quality rating improvement system, BrightStars.
- Recruits mentors and mentees from current FCC providers who demonstrate commitment to the competencies and skills outlined in the Early Childhood Education Workforce Knowledge and Competencies (WKC) and are actively engaged in BrightStars and in good standing with the Department of Children, Youth and Families.
- Develops reports to the State of Rhode Island, including billing for payment, portal usage for submitting attendance online, compliance to CCAP and DCYF licensing policies and adherence to federal regulatory changes impacting small business practice for union members.
- Works collaboratively with partners including the State Department of Human Services (DHS), Brigthstars navigators and assessors, higher education institutions, and other vendors and instructors.
- Provides training resources to FCC programs.
- Ensure all professional development and technical assistance is vetted and approved through the joint State/Union training committee and is aligned to Rhode Island’s Workforce Knowledge and Competencies for Early Care and Education Professionals and the Rhode Island Early Learning Development Standards
